On the Outside

This 98 page paperback book contains the stories of 12 individuals who transitioned from state institutions to homes in the community during the 1980s and 90s. The people are as diverse as any cross-section of American society. Their stories contain the experience and wisdom of people who faced some of the consequences of having the label of disability. This book is also available in Kindle format and can be purchased here.​ 

Parent Advocacy Guide to Special Education

This Guide was written to help parents understand the WV Department of Education Policy 2419, Regulations for the Education of Students with Exceptionalities and other relevant State and Federal regulations and policies. Also included are reference materials such as forms, sample letters, flowcharts, etc. as well as tips throughout to parents on ways to use the materials information in the Guide.
