Public Policy Priorities

The 2027 - 2028 Public Policy Priorities will be released in December 2027. 

The Council issues Public Policy Priorities every two years to direct our training, advocacy and education with policymakers and lawmakers.  Our 5-Year State Plan and Annual Work Plan drives our Public Policy Priorities.  In addition, the Priorities are also driven by the needs of West Virginians with developmental disabilities.

While our Public Policy Priorities are developed every two years, the Council reviews them annually and make amendments as needed.

At times, the Council will issue position statements and/or public comments on public policy, legislation, and issues that affect West Virginians with developmental disabilities and their families.
